Qualifications:
- Valid Kentucky teaching certificate with Gifted endorsement;
- At least two (2) years of successful teaching;
- Knowledge and expertise in gifted and talented education (including all 5 areas of possible identification);
- Knowledge of and proven expertise in differentiating instruction for all learners;
- Proven ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with administrators, teachers, staff, parents, families, and community partners.
Reports To:
- Gifted and Talented Coordinator/Assistant Superintendent of Student Learning
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Advocate for gifted learners by informing teachers, parents, and students about G/T services, state regulations, and district policies and procedures.
2. Develop an instructional plan designed to meet district objectives for gifted education.
3. Prepare lesson plans designed to meet program goals and to meet unique interests and aptitudes of each student.
4. Provide learning experiences, activities, and discussions to provide for individual student development.
5. Design and implement a method of evaluating individual student performance and achievement.
6. Provide a stimulating and conducive learning environment.
7. Design and organize materials needed to implement instructional plans.
8. Assist in the identification and selection of gifted students.
9. Identify and implement appropriate service options based on student need (i.e., resource, collab, consult, etc.).
10. Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers to monitor the performance of gifted students in regular classes and serve as resource person for assisting regular teachers in challenging and motivating gifted students.
11. Communicate with parents and families concerning program goals and the performance/achievement of their child in meeting these goals.
12. Collaborate with G/T Coordinator to design an effective G/T district program.
13. Continues with professional growth in the area of gifted education.
14. Facilitates differentiation trainings for classroom teachers as directed by G/T Coordinator.
15. Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the G/T Coordinator.
